Indian Police was started as a properly trained and disciplined body of men exclusively devoted to the prevention and detection of crime. Over the time it changed, we all know the current situation of police. In each and every level there is corruption. If a officer is able, he gets transferred. Politicians trying to use them for their political campaign. The same century old police act still in place which uses brutal handling of arrestees or demonstrators.
We think that Police should be modernized and should be independent like Judicial system which is atleast free from these politicians.
So what do you guys think about our current police/political situation? Please use comments section and start a meaningful discussion.

Thats a good idea to seperate politics and police.I would suggest there must be a police system i.e., directly under the control of high court instead of home minister.
I think our politicians are too involved with police (promotions etc) Even MLA, MP, local leaders has got influence on Police. Best thing to do is make it independent and modernize it. I see police beating protestors on head etc. They should disperse them by tear gas, handcuff and send to community service. I bet they will fear again to do it. Well our politicians ammended constitution several times but nothing has been changed in laws, police fines etc. Our politicians bear the guilt and we bear the guilt of voting for them or staying away from elections.
Yes Politicians ruined most of our democrasy. They cashed on illiterate people and now they command our police. God save our country.
For me Corruption is in indians blood and genes.Since after the independence what we have achieved is making good money in otheway. To control or contrained it, it would be swimming over the bid tidals.
There are few police officers which are doing really good job.In order to make them really good job,yes I can they have to seperate from all aspect.I do have some plans to get furnish all.
1. First of all, they have to be paid good.
2. Police department has to be dismantled and privatisation.
3. Promotions should be strictly on the basis of qualification and grades they get.
4. grades they get should be on the basis of how many cases they got successeded.
5. All cases should be noted in the central computer system to which only officials can have accsess.
6. They are to be well protected with guns, tear gas, pepper gas and fully equiped vehicle.
7. whatever they do it has to be recorded in the central computer system.
8. Everyone should abide the law
like this i can say……
if the political suytem changes then there gone a be a good development in all fields not only police dept
the best is rather then thinking about politicians and police… we have to do everything online, each and every information should be maintained by systems, the information from doctors, lawyers, transpotors.. each and everything….cause we cant touch politicians and police… if we do this..70 percent automatically they will be alright.. the next system will handle….
The problem is, we want the police to be different people totally. But we are failing to recognize them as ordinary people like us who are subjected to every kind of social, professional stress that we endure. Like there are bad peoplein every field, there are bad people in this profession also. Apart from the involvment of politicians in bureaucracy, the overall attitude reflects the attitude of any Government officer in our country - anyone who goes to them for some work are looked down and the height is many of us go to them with the same expectation. May be the problem is with this basic attitude. Our social structure may be responsible for this and educating public is one solution, I guess. As for as interference of politicians, it is not good for any country when the country’s executive branch acts independant of its law maker. Imagine if Police officer says I won’t implement or abide to a court decision - what would happen then.
So, I would like to say the reason for this problem may be its cultural and historical background also. The positive thing is we have realized that there is a problem and definitely we would evolve and find a solution - it may be slow but is definite I guess.
