A Political Drama (Misc.)

The last day of campaigning for Tamil Nadu’s May 8 elections was full of drama. Right through Saturday, television channels — Sun TV (DMK) and Jaya TV (AIADMK) — used air waves to out do each other in poll propaganda.
Sun TV has pulled out its 2001 news bulletin tapes to replay the midnight arrest of DMK president M. Karunanidhi, the manhandling of the then Union commerce minister Murasoli Maran
Jaya TV aired a program called “expose” showing a high-decibel documentary claiming to expose a “link” between Karunanidhi and the assassins of Rajiv Gandhi.

Lets look at the promises they made:

1. DMK promised free colour television sets and free gas stoves.

2. AIADMK promised free computers, free gold, free rice
and many more….

Looks like our politicians are shamelessly using media, government resources for their election victory. Where do you think the money comes for these promises? Don’t you guys think that the promises made here are like bribes for the voters?

  2. 2 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 9:06 am

People including I should have minimum common sense to vote .
Why I included my self is people like me who are educated, having some social responsiblites are escaping from voting. This makes it foolish to conduct elections as the percent voting itself indicates.

  3. 3 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 10:46 am

Its bad for elections and people.
Its the peoples tax money, which will be used for those “free” items.

and, if people really believes, then its a real shame.
already, AP chief minister, did false promises and didn’t completed them.
    (Free electricity
Rs. 2kg rice, alcohal ban etc..)

  4. 4 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 11:15 am

It’s very bad to see these type of promises in elections.previously political leaders used to promise subsidies on important commodities like rice, electricity. But now these guyz are trying to fool people with unimportant commodities like Tv and gold, this ensures that political leards got hold of mass nerve.this is very bad sign of politics.this virus soon propagate to other states and will make entire india as fools country.it needs to be stopped.giving wakeup calls to people doesn’t stop this issue.goto your place and educate them.basic problem is illiteracy needs to be removed, all educated people should cast their vote and have option called ‘NONE of THEM’.and if ‘NONE of THEM’ wins those guys should not be allowed next time.but there are lot of questions will be raised, who will take care of that consituency and what’s the guarantee that ppl won’t be get attcked.Young minds need to think this.don’t laugh at current problem.it will soon become as cancer.cure it,act on it swiftly.—Chandra.

we have got to parties and both of them are just the same making false promises. as a citizen i need to put my vote but to whom should i put my vote to??? incase i missout putting my vote sombody else would use it…. this is just like a telugu saying…” mundhu nuyee venuka goyee”" which means well in the front and ditch in the back!!!!

  6. 6 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 1:34 pm

I hope u can vote to independents by seeing their education qualification.
If nobody of them whom u think are not worthy just vote to the guy whom u think is the best.
    ok bye

  7. 7 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 1:46 pm

We are living amid the hopeless leaders…for their self development, rather than developing the community and the nation.

  8. 8 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 1:59 pm

this shows how insane our leaders are…where they are leading our country..
and how big fools we are..it wud be shame on our part if one of them is elected as our leader..which is gonna happen
we shud understand that when there is no electricity where the fuck do we keep a tv or computer…n gold cannot fill our stomach…y don these politicians focus on basic neccesities like food n electricity!!!!!
to be frank we the public of GREAT IDIA are perfect assholes…no one including me cares for the future of our country
    .

but what to do..this is the situation of every political party and leader in our GREAT country…we have to pic the best sucker among the contesting group of suckers and not the perfect leader who can drive us and our country

bcos of this many educated people don want to vote any of them and doesnt bother to vote..and this is where comes the importance of, option of having ‘none of the assholes’ in the poll sheet ..this makes sure that votes are not rigged..and provides the way of showing public dissatisfaction of the curent politics.

We shud bring another revolution in the country and bring out a virgin(modified constituion)rather than moving with the existing bitch.

  9. 9 Anonymous May 7th, 2006 at 2:29 pm

people of tamil nadu should realize that all these promises are false and the parties are just trying to bribe them with these unfair practices. i am wondering what the EC is doing. they should restrain parties from making any promises for wooing the public. damn the dirty indian politics.

to hell with all the ARAVA ppl. and their politics..ask the narrow-minded tamilians to first get rid of their inferiority complex, and stop criticizing people from other states and linguistic communities

all the major leaders of TN were non-tamilians

    MGR- malayalee
    Annadurai - telugu
    Vaiko - telugu
    Periyar - kannadiga
Jayalalitha - mysore iyengar (kannada mix)
    Karunanidhi - telugu
    Vijayakanth - telugu

ALL ARE WAITING FOR SOME HERO LIKE SIDDHARTH OR AMIR, TO COME AND START THE REVOLUTION , EXCEPT FEW. ONE SHOULD DEVOTE TIME AND START THE REVOLUTION SLOWLY MOUTH BY MOUTH , IN BETWEEN CHATS WITH CLOSE FRIENDS, INSTEAD OF OTHER UNNESSESSARY STUFF, GOSSIP IS GOOD FOR ONESELF AS IT RELEASES ENDORPHINS IN THE BRAIN TO DECREASE STRESS, BUT POSITIVE GOSSIP ON THESE SENSITIVE ISUUES MIGHT ONE DAY LESSEN THE STRESS FOR THE WHOLLE NATION.ALL THE BEST.

  16. 16 jaagrith May 9th, 2006 at 1:04 pm

yes…….WE are the prospective siddharth and amir…..lets stop discussing the problem and start thinking and stepping towards the solution….which is based on us…..i m proud of those NRIs who started a political group in india……and such groups are needed in thousands of number……this is more than an act of service to country…..its an act of bathing….cleansing ourselves from filth…..until yesterday i hoped abt india reforming…….but not anymore…cause i need to do my part insteading hoping of that ….its not hope its need.

  17. 17 Anonymous May 10th, 2006 at 7:40 am

why every one waiting for some one like siddharth and amir, why indian cant be siddharth and someone login as anonymous be amir and bring a revolution, we all follow u. stop tis shit discussions, if u can do something for our country, if u cant just shut up.

  18. 18 Anonymous May 10th, 2006 at 12:37 pm

see there has to be someone (yes everyone has to be involved in a revolution) to lead to a reformation. dont say that” stop these discussions blah blah blah”. see revolution comes from voices. voices come from discussions. everybody should be given a chance to speak and only then can a revolution involve people. so discussion is very much important as is a protest / change. yes i agree that it has to be meaningful and i think the above feelings of people were meaningful. we definitely need a change in the political system and the way people think, perceive and choose a leader. well wiping away all the current leaders who are depriving the country’s growth will bring in part of the change we are anticipating. but will everybody be ready for it? well i would say nepal is a good example.but the political and economical situation of nepal and india are so different. india is seeing a drastical economic and development change in the current years and the whole world is recognizing our wonderful country and setting it as an example for the developing nations. in the current scenario if a revolution to break down or pull down the political system will ( i think) cease the opportunities india is receiving in terms of IT development and other fields of development. i dont disagree that half of our brothers are still starving there. we definitely need to do something about it and i agree that its a serious issue on par with the country’s current development. well thats why we are having discussions and its wonderful that we are getting such good response from responsible indians around the globe. but a good solution which teaches the current dramatic politicians a lesson and changing the face of the politican system without effecting the current economy is what we need. Well i am not a solution provider and i know i should not say that. But i atleast hope for one like that. shouldnt I? young indians from around the world and from our mother india have to be part of this revolution. I raise my hand to those people who give a call for returning to my marvelous, wonderful, everloving country INDIA!!!!!

ITS EASY TO MAKE JOKES ON EACH OTHERS TRY TO THINK,THIS USELESS POLITICIANS USE THERE STUPID BRIBERY PUBLITCITY WITH THE HELP OF MEDIA GIVING FREE COLOUR TV,FREE GOLD ,FOR THESE KIND OF PUBLICITY WHO BELIEVES THEM AND VOTE FOR THEM I DONT THINK SO EDUCATED PEOPLE WILL DO IT ,THIS KIND OF USELESS ASS HOLE POLITICIANS SURVIVE BECAUSE OF THE NON EDUCATED PEOPLE (LABOUR PEOPLE)BECAUSE THEY MAJORITY PERCENTAGE DONT SEE WHATS THE FUTURE THEY SEE WHAT THEY ARE GETTING FREE FOR NOW THATS THE BIG PROBLEM,SO I THINK EDUCATION SHOULD ME THE FIRST MEDICINE FOR THIS KIND OF USELESS POLITICIANS. JAI HIND….

  20. 20 Anonymous May 10th, 2006 at 1:16 pm

Answering the questions from my perspective:
1)who has to bring these changes?
2)does a politician accepts these changes?
3)if they won’t understand this what’s the course of action?
4)when do we change our mindset of accepting ‘best among the fools’?

My answer to your questions would be:

    1) every person tagged/feels he/she is an Indian has to bring these changes.

2)Politicians are the people we choose as our representatives of our respective regions. A representative has to voice the feelings and problems of those who elected him. He is a public servant. So he has to accept any thing which is voiced legitimately and which is not anti-social.

3)well, the course of action is definitely pulling him down from his position and re-electing a better representative. ( i dont know how they do that. i know its a bad answer!!!!)

4)hmm!!! there is no time frame for ” when do we change our mindset”. All i can say is” people of india, dont choose the best of the fools. choose the honest, hardworking, sincere, wise and shrewed person among us.

  21. 21 Anonymous May 10th, 2006 at 11:21 pm

thanks for your positive and responsible answers guys.My two days of waiting is over for answers.it’s turning out to be a good discussion.

Practically speaking, none of the existing politician will accept a change which will cost his seat and it’s highly impossible to pulldown a guy.our politician will goto any level(they won’t bother to incite any violenece which might cost innocent lives) to stop these types of movements.

and i’m regret to inform u that free color TV guy is winning election.

as discussed there are multiple issues.first all of educated people should cast their vote.and if they don’t like any candidate ,until we get ‘NONE OF THEM’ option , stamp on all the symbols.so that ur vote get invalid.this way if all people will vote it will send a strong signal that none of the contesting candidates are fit to serve ppl.

these types of strong signals will definately create awareness in other people. my point here is don’t vote blindly.if u don’t like ,cast ur vote.but for none.

I don’t want this movement as ‘nepal movement’.we can make this movement without going on roads.gather all people u know in india and make them aware of all these things.but we should have a forum which will religiously try to aware people.

But guys, when I think of these things somehow i’m feeling whether we can bring any change?

    let’s see..

    hoping–Chandra

  22. 22 shyam May 11th, 2006 at 1:33 am

we guys very interested in politics, why not enter into politics, and we change the system.
practically speaking it wont happen why? bcos we are afraid of our political systems, if not we our parents are afraid that some thing could happen. in my point of view nothin happen just discussing, we should opt a leader who can bring out something from this dicussion forum and make a change, i dont have the qualities of being a leader, so guys who ever has the real intention to change our political system, just think iam ur first follower.
    cheers

The maharashtra govt has declared 50% reservation for SC/ST castes in the private sector. Do you think this is where our country has to lead to??

Look at this quote of Wipro chairman Mr. Ajim prem ji’s comment on reservation:

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely
support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let’s start the
reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for
muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST like that. Cricket rules should be
modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST
player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a
six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring
60 runs should be declared as a century.

We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib
Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl
maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above
this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC
player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let’s recruit SC/ST and
OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians
(that can really help the country.. )

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers
and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)

Let’s be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward…
Let’s show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let’s be proud of being
    an INDIAN..

  24. 24 Anonymous May 11th, 2006 at 7:50 am

no offenses towards any castes please. its just about the indian politican system which is being criticized above. please lead a positive discussion on this.

  25. 25 Anonymous May 11th, 2006 at 12:50 pm

yes we need a forum, we need a leader.I am having a person in my mind.I’m putting this option on table ,let’s discuss.Mr.APJ kalam is not willing to hold President office for second term.He wanted to gobak to his students.Shall we all guys pump e-mails to kalam sir ask him to guide this movement.seems like stupid and impossible option rite…not at all..give a try..it’s possible..otherwise how a man on earth went on to moon.Guyz..only positive discussion.above caste/creed/religion barriers will be blown out if we all come under one forum with one resolution.Let’s clean the political and corrupted mess in our MotherLand “the great HINDUSTHAN” .Jai Hind.-Chandra.

  26. 26 Anonymous May 12th, 2006 at 12:17 pm

STOP THESE S.C/S.T RESERVATIONS THESE R USE LESS SHIT ,THESE UNEDUCATED POLITICIANS USE THIS BULLSHIT FOR THEIR VOTES,BECAUSE OF THIS CORRUPTED POLITICIANS(ASS HOLES) THE COUNTRY IS NOT MOVING QUICKER FOR HIGHER GOALS AS IT SUPPOSED TO BE . PLEASE DONT VOTE FOR THIS BUGGERS FOR A TELEVISION,THINK FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY AND OUR CHILDREN ,MAKE THEM TO KEEP THEIR HEAD UP AND WALK ON THE STREETS,DONT MAKE THEM TO FEEL SHAME THAT THEY R INDIANS, JAI HIND,JAI BHARAT MATA KI,JAI RAM… HYDERABADI…

    Church in Tirupati

I came across this article in a local publication which publishes religious and spiritual articles) about plans going on in building a church in Tirumala (up in Tirumala and not Tirupati). In fact the article said already there are 7 churches in Tirupati. The CM of AP Mr. Y. Samuel Rajashekar Reddy (who converted to christianity ) is providing all the support for the same from the government, which manages the whole temple through T.T.D (the trust which manages all the temples at Tirumala and Tirupati).

As a step towards this, they have already converted the Executive Officer of T.T.D into an christian (again, this officer is appointed by the government itself). The plans came to light when 100 acres of land, up in Tirumala, was put to auction by this executive officer and these Christian missionaries started bidding for it. The question was, why are they trying to sell the land while temple is not at all in need of any money? Even if the temple needed money, there are FDs from T.T.D worth more than 15000 crores in various banks, which can be withdrawn at any time. Over the years, it was a guideline followed by T.T.D not to sell any land to anyone. They used to lease the land for different Mathas (like our Kashi Matha) and Chathras. The lease period was not more than 30 years which needed renewal after it expired. This being the case, why would they sell the land now?

The whole article was based on what was published in a daily newspaper in AP called “Andhra Jyothi”.

Even when British were in power (pre-Independence), they did not dare to come to Tirupati/Tirumala with their conversion plans. But now, with the help of our own people, they are crossing all the limits of toleration.

We need to spread this awareness amoung all our people so that this can be stopped if possible. So, I humbly request all of you to post this message in all the religious forums you have access to and spread this shocking news.

    yeah
indian politicians are so shameless. They do anything to grab the power its’s really waste of time talking about them.India is really in need of some really good politicians.otherwise the loss to our country is really unpredictable.First the change should really start within the people.Folks sometimes i feel that “can we really do anything to change our country” because above all its our motherland

  31. 31 indian Sep 22nd, 2006 at 3:05 pm

folks we can’t really say that every politician is really bad. There are some good politicians who are really working for the society{in turn to the country}.But i feel that they are really being suppressed by the majority of the corruptive leaders .The most important problem in india is corruption .so once u start curbing corruption automatically everything gets back to normal as the “”‘”leaders will be in the control of general public “”".i’ll give u a smaal example for this which really happened to me:
once when i was driving my bike without a licence i was caught by a constable .so i bribed him. Then the same day when i was returning back from college i had seen the same constable who was trying to make some bad moves with a girl who had everything perfect {i mean the licence ,number plate and thatkindaa stuff}but i didnt dare to go and stop him as i had no licence. If i had a licence atleast i wud have dared to go and stop his nasty acts.since iwas caught by him the same morning i feared to go to him .But if i had everything right i would have gone and asked him to stop .
so what i want to really say is try to be as responsible citzen as u can .Because if u are perfect u can question others.

EACH PERFECT INDIVIDUAL LEADS TO A PERFECT SOCIETY and EACH PERFECT SOCIETY LEADS TO A PERFECT COUNTRY

    A PERFECT

Everyone is talking about reforms..reforms..reforms. What reforms?

List them. Have a discussion to solve them.

I belive everyone who is reading this forum have some or more knowledge is their own field. Post each issue in the field you know, Urban Planning, Medecine, Emergency Planning, Judicial system, Education, Agriculture, Working Class, Electricity, Taxation system etc.. the list can fill the whole blog.

Changing a political system is not so easy. Learn from history, it took more than 100 years of serious struggle for independence. Start now with a plan and purpose. If you do not do now, you will never do it.

Remember, politicians invested their whole life and would be the most toughest challenge. Change should come from an interal system, which means you should be part of it.

Good Luck to all the beginners of a new political system.

  33. 33 Vinoda May 4th, 2007 at 8:52 am

Hi Guys I’ve seen all of your conversations. That’s true.while we are voting we should think and vote.In A.P CM is on Lands ,TRS Leader himself is a big Fraud…who is included in Passport raud issue.telugudesam party ….chandrabaabu,he is also fraud.

So people should think before voting them….A.P people have new party which is started by IAS officer…Who Resigned his job and entered into politics to change system. So its necessary to support people like that.

So i wish People in A.P Will vote to Lok Satta Party in Next Elections.

Not only in A.P.But in other places in country A new party was started with IITians. We should consider those people.
