IBM CEO Samuel Palmisano said Tuesday that Big Blue will invest $6 billion in India over the next three years, tripling the $2 billion the company invested over the previous three years. The investment is the largest sum ever committed by a U.S. company to India. Last year Microsoft, Cisco Systems, and Intel announced investments totaling $3.9 billion (combined). IBM has been rapidly ramping up its employee strength in India over the last few years. India housed 43000 IBM employees, up from about 4900 in 2002. IBM has certainly recognized the advantages India can bring to its customers. The company services 250 clients across the world from its global delivery center in Bangalore.
