De Anza College,Cupertino CA(near Apple headquarters) is a cummunity college. Taking this different path to BS or BA, one can do the first two years of their BS or BA studies in the community college and then transfer the last two years into University of California(UC)or some other university and finish their BS or BA. Thus this was one can save upon expensive college fees as the cummunity college is half that of the a university. If one keeps up good grades in the cummunity college and has a good transcript one can also transfer to UCLA or UC Berkeley(one of the best universities or USA).

Tecnical University of Denmark, second best rate in europe of all technical shcools, quite good in some specific areas in almost all technical or engineeering feilds, for instance is famous for chemical engineering thermodynamics and also process engineering, very flexible curriculum, i had only one mandatory course for the whole masters in chemical engineering, courses updated every smemster, exams based on the current research trends in the area and ongoing in dtu, high quality teaching, some exchange students to mit from dtu say that here the teaching is better than in mit, n most of all its mainly a research based institute, providing the research to many multi-national companies through out the world.

State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook, MS in Computer Science

Among the good ranked universities for CS (around 29th for MS, 15th for PhD). Funding is competitive though everyone gets an on-campus job. Many get some sort of funding from the 2nd sem, & there are great opportunities for getting internships in financial companies (citigroup, goldman sachs etc) in NYC. Placements are good with many graduates getting placed in citigroup, goldman sachs, bloomberg, with a handful in google, yahoo.

Excellent facilities and faculty for people interested in Medical Imaging (related to computer graphics), and also for aspiring PhDs in algorithms area.
Very good location on peaceful, crime-free Long Island, 1hr (60miles) from Manhattan. College fees is relatively low, but cost of living here is high.

Most PhDs are IITians, and some of them come out with an MS to get placed in Microsoft, Amazon, Yahoo etc. MS students are mainly from Mumbai, Bangalore, & some from Chennai, AP.

This year’s CS intake has been very high, and many students are now struggling for funding.

Auburn University (Alabama) is an excellent place for architecture, civil eng, fisheries, and Elecrical Eng. Other branches are good too. Its a nice place for higher education with adequate funding opportunities. Certain University-wide policies such as campus parking, compulsory Health insurance for International students Sucks BIG time!! other than that…everthing here is a satisfying experience.

Wow great info. Ball State University, IN is also nice. Its not really tough to get an assistantship. The courses are OK. Very good for Architecture and Urban Planning, MBA Enterprenuership Program is rabked number 5th in the US. Another department you can look into is CICS, decent amount of research and a lot of social exposure and alumni links.

    Lakshmi Narayana.Gajula,

I’m in East Carolina University, Greenville,NC. This is a very good state univ to study. U’ll get funding.Chances are 80% and even u dont get funding there are plenty of jobs and assistanships in the campus. So u need not worry financially.
Here, there is no indian student who doesnt have assistantship. This sounds great right?
Coming to the place, its not a city, a town. But u have all the facilities a city would have,Indian restaurants, Bars, Pubs…and we have a cricket club “GHCC” and at present we r leading among the 30 other teams(4 states) this season. So what else u ask for? So when u try to move or join a new university, keep this university in mind.

Mech Engg. at Univ of Del is good. Everybody who gets admitted gets funding. Also there are quite many opportunities for on-campus job opportunities.

Operations Department is also good. It is best in the sense of obtaining a job. All the students in that dept. get a job as soon as they graduate. There are lot of financial companies near by in wilmington, DE.

Ofcourse UDel’s Chem Engg is ranked among top 10.

Never ever go to university of neworleans. No funding for conventional fields like CS, electrical etc..but have funding for mechanical, math, accounting, chemistry.moreover u have frequent encounters with hurricanes and storms.Even if u r desperate and need an admission, UNO will get u an i-20 and maybe visa too but the CS department sucks.no research, but they wudnt allow you to graduate either.u might get oncampus, but u need lot more for the fee, offcampus for indians (motels and gift shops in downtown, gas stations etc)……but no intuition fee waivers, either u get one or none.but if all u need is as MS degree in electrical, u can do tat in a year.mind u say no to UNO

I hardly saw any European University so thoght of commenting in. Well, Reutlingen University Germany. Loads of international students, small city good university. Courses in German not a problem wiht me but naturally its preferred in english. I think wanting to my bachelors in Europe is one of the best decisions one can take like me. No regrets totally enjoying all the pain and joy.

This univ.sucks, no funding at all, tution fees is very high(7500),hike in tution fee every year, especially EE sucks no internships,no oncampus jobs, grading is very tough, course work is also tough.so dont ever come to this fking univ.

  42. 42 Anonymous May 6th, 2006 at 8:21 pm

Temple University is a good place to be if your looking for funding. Im in CS and its a good program..well ranked. The business, law, psychology are very highly ranked…even though you may not get funded right away u ll eventuallt find it. Until then you can always find a high paying(1200-1500$ or so) job on campus. But the grading for CS is very though, thts the reson y most people dont find funding. You need to maintain a min of 3.25 to get funded. If u can do tht ur done. The career development center sucks. Whether its internships or jobs you have to find em yourself. Most people do find one without going to a consultant or something like tht. Overall Philly is a very nice place. Lotta nice clubs n bars. Many schools around so pretty lively on most days. Well in the end, Temple has treated me very well, with funding n all so I personally would recommend it.

DeMontfort university, Leicester Business school,uk.i think this school is the best value for money being one of the cheapest mba’s in uk.DMU’s biz school also ranks among the top20 uk schools.the one year mba being an advantage over 2 year mba’s in us,canada, or australia.the course standard is quite high and rigorous, attainable nevertheless.
not very difficult to find part time jobs in data entry and call centers apart from the usual factories.
Leicester, one of the most multi-cultural cities in britain.among asians, mostly gujjus and punjus.
a good ielts score and a couple of years of work-ex and see u aboard.
    Good Luck!
i came by applying directly but i know for sure that study overseas and chopra consultants in india help in admission processing..
    cheers

V.good 4 Masters in computer sciences and computer related courses. Moderate fees. Excellent lab facilities. The best feature is a placement job guranteed atleast 6 months in UK. But u shld search hard 2 find a part-time job during ur studies. Stafford is the best place 2 live. I strongly recommend this Uni for only IT people.

hey i am from univ of missourri -kansas city.
this univ sucks as there r no jobs and assistantships,

there r lot of indians students here and is alot of competetion for on campus jobs(which r hardly there).
so,my sincere advise to all the students who r thinking to apoly for this univ is to drop the thought of coming to univ of missouri kansas city .

hi i am from western illinois university. its the worst university of all. u have funding, on campus jobs but more of all lecturers here have lots of racism for assignments u submit if u r american then what ever may be ur presentation its good other than americans they say its worst and they write copied, this university really sucks my advice is apply for this univ. u will definitely gat visa because very less people know about this college. but bring an other i20 with u when u come hereand tell some story that u have ur relatives or anyone at some other and u want to shift u can shift right n the first semester its the advantage here, u dont have to waste ur time here because u cant graduate if u r an average student here. u have to be ann iitian to graduate from here. so students who apply for this university i jus say forget this univ it just suckssss

University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, Tennessee.

Good school for Pharmaceutical sciences, especially for pharmaceutics program. Also good for graduate studies in molecular sciences and medical sciences. The good part of the school is everyone who gets admission gets full assistantship. This is probably one among the schools that pays highest stipend to students.
The flipside is that its relatively competitive to get an admission.
M.Pharm is the minimum qualification to get an admission into pharmacy school and having an industry experience is an added advantage. The stipend here is sufficient enough to support family (no kids!)
    HOPE THIS INFO HELPS!!!!!!!!

Fitchburg State College, MA (near Boston). Its a state college (not University), so the programs here are cheap and adequate because the State funds them. Fee is $2500 per sem for 9 credits and situated in a small town near Boston with moderate cost of living. CS and MBA are good options for Desis. If you work hard you can find GA and oncampus jobs. Living is OK and lots of jobs. Intnl Office gives good support to Intnl students for CPT/OPT stuff. Visa approval rate is 90%. For more info http://www.fsc.edu

    Rochester Institute Of Tech.
Complete no no for CS, IT, EE and MBA. CS is better of the lot but ….COME ON not worth
$800/credit. Need to take 12 credits a quarter.
    Hardly any research.
Some funding for Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials. But not a research oriented college.
On campus is available but expect to pay the tuition from your pocket…around $9000/quarter.
Lot of desi poplulation. Very strict on plagiarism…..so do ur own homework.
Not a easy univ….bit hectic with quarter system.
Industrial and Manufacturing guys are the only ones who enjoy their stay (tuition waived and monthly stipend who wouldn’t) rest of dudes count quarters to graduation.

i’m not sure about the current scenario i was graduated 2 and 1/2 yrs back. university of mississippi, oxford is good for CS, Civil and chemical. ece is good but courses are tough. and everyone got funding when i was there almost all in all the departments got funding. i heard its getting competetive as more more and more people are enrolling.. checkout the current status if anyone interedted in this univ.

  83. 83 amit Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:00 am

mississippi college, this is a good college for only masters in health services administration, but in that too only 500$ funding per sem but fees is affordable around 3500$ per sem. i would recommend this college since u get to know an american environment and values which can be useful in the long run with a good education. when u step out after masters thier is quite a good chance that u may get a good job in health services .thanks.

what are some of the schools to get assistantship in Masters in Public health program? Please help!

    Thank you

  88. 88 Anonymous May 9th, 2008 at 10:54 pm

I request to fellow students in my country that every US institute is not good. Several institutes are fraud also. No placements and than visa issues so better to stay back and try in top notch indian business schools like IIM’s or Indian school of business. I invested big amount in a fraud institute like Hult international business school and lost money, quality of education is poor , no placements and they make fool out of you. It is ironical that some indian agents promote such schools in our own country to make few bucks.
Don’t go near any fraud school, look for only reputed institutes.

    Missouri State University, springfield, MO

it’s good only for MBA’s. No other programs are good enough. A complete NO if you need any help from the career center about the job oppurtunities.

Fees is less compared to lot of universities, that is the only positive and it’s a good and calm place to live with less cost of living here.

Very hard to find off-campus jobs and no good transportation.

Overall, if you are aspiring for an MBA degree, go for it else dont even look at it.
