- Usha, was asked (bribe) to hand over 800 rupees ($20) for birth certificates for her two daughters. Instead of paying bribes, she used the RTI to find out what was delaying her application, and which official was responsible. She was immediately called into the local government office and given the birth certificates.
- Sunder Nagri, Radha, waited two years for a ration card, After she filed an RTI application the ration card arrived within days.
These days many citizens are using this RTI. So what is this RTI?
The Parliament of India has passed Right to Information Laws (RTI) in 2005, which empower citizens to question the government, inspect their files, take copies of government documents and also to inspect government works.
For a fee of 10 rupees, we can now demand the government for information on almost anything. The act mandates timely response to citizen requests for government information.
This might be the most important event that occurred since our independence. If u are in India, don’t forget to use this to question the government, administration. Please comment & spread this message.

I read this in the news today. This is the best I have seen this year. We as the people need more rights to ask the government about the work it is doing.
This august our govt tried to curb its powers but backed down as the people resisted. We need this badly to improve our country.
hi thank you for the message related to our proud India, and i want to be the part of this information act by spreading the information about this to as many people i can so if you can please send this message to my mail i.d. that i have given above so i could forward to large section of people of india.
too gud. gad 2 hear this. What happened 2 this law frm 2005? anways its gud that something like this is there. But it should be watched carefully as its in the hands of the government to amend or to completely remove it.
I am very happy to hear that finally we have a law , to question Govt and get our work done with out bribing.
I think we should have another law , which states giving or asking bribery is crime and will be arrested.
Lets hope India will become a corruption -free country soon

Most of the people of india were uneducated and did not know about the law. But now a days they are becoming cautious about their rights n also shows dare to raise hand for their right. RTI is a very helpful law, which will encourage people to be aware about their rights n also solve their problems.
