Giant leap for India’s space programme (Misc.)
By media.desi on Jan 10, 2007 in Miscellaneous
India on Wednesday launched a rocket (PSLV-C7) carrying a satellite designed to test re-entry vehicle technology that could be used in a future manned space mission. The rocket carried SRE-1 recoverable satellite, which will perform zero-gravity experiments before plunging into the Bay of Bengal along with three other satellites – the largest and most complex payload ever deployed by an Indian rocket.
The red-and-white rocket climbed into space from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to the cheers of scientists and engineers at mission control.
If successful, India would join an exclusive group – only the United States, Russia, China, and the European Union have mastered the technology necessary to recover a capsule and its cargo safely.

Why india is investing huge money in space projects. There is massive povery problem in india. Govenment should realise the hunger and poverty problem. People sold their kidney for few rupees and they are living in stone age. The priority should be the people not the reaching to the moon. See the reports about hunger and poverty and health in india by international organisations.

Its good to bring the topic of poverty in India but is there any point in talking about stopping India from competing with other countries when it comes to other issues. Mr Khurshid Khan, there are many matters where Indian Govt needs to give attention to, but if this be then let our country get somehwere. If you think of poverty then even think about our Global warming where India is contributing the major part to that. These are done by literated stupid people in my country but who bothers… no one and you are bothered about poverty. So individually lets countribute to our country in one or the other way. Lets c that we are right in whatever you or i do then every other thing will set on its own.

Miss Bina, I m not Discouraging the ISRO scientist for their achievment, but i wanted to pointout the issue which should be considered as priority for the indain nation. India should grow his economy to over come the poverty and health issues and then if goverment wants to touch the moon surface then i have no objections. China is the example of us.
