India Wins Kabaddi World Cup (Misc.)
By Novell on Jan 26, 2007 in Discussions
India quelled Iran’s challenge 29-19 to win the second World Cup Kabaddi Title. Determined to maintain its supremacy, India raised its game in the second half to get past the previous edition’s runner-up in a hard-fought encounter.
For this extremely hard work for the title, India received a cash purse of Rs 2.5 lakh and Iran went home with Rs. 1.5 lakh.
Earlier in the semifinals, India outclassed Bangladesh 48-22 while Iran demolished Japan 43-14.
So what do you guys say? Rs. 2.5 Lakh for World Cup Kabaddi Winners? Do comment and discuss your views ..

Just 2.5L we shud be shamed of ourself. In lazy game like cricket each player gets more than 10L per game weather played or not. Kabbhadi is a game of strength, concentration, fun, courage and its our every village game. It shud be given most importance. each player shud get something like 25 to 50 Lacs plus a good job. People shud start encouraging real mans game i.e kabhadi not lazy game cricket…

The problem does not lie in criticizing the amount given now.
Why do we give so much importance to cricket and neglect othergames. The change should come in us rather than pointing the finger at someone.
If there is any other game which was being played nobody cares about that game, obviously all the corporate houses does not encourage promoting that game.
the situation will change only if we see the merits of other games rathar than the same old lazy game like cricket where in which we are seeing the same old faces everytime and eulogising them as the greatest sons of India

Its not about neglecting one game to improve the ratings of another. It doesn’t work that way. We need to support every sport and win in every sport. Thats the basic competitive mindset that is required. I grew up in the US through grade school. I know how competitive the kids are here. I played in 3 sports in high school and I took them very seriously, (took my studies seriously as well). You yourself have to participate in sports to promote the sporting spirit. Just watching and clapping is not enough.
If you want to bring a change in anything, it has to be from the grass roots level. The reason we have so many wonderful IT engineers in india is because every one who went to college takes computer courses there. Same thing with sports. If you want our country to be good at it. Go and play sports. Get those competitive juices flowing. (I know there needs to be some political change in the system too, but that will come when we change.)
Great job kabaddi team!!! WE are proud of you!!
And for the rest of the indian teams like soccer, cricket, basketball, swimming and track & field, LETS GO….bring those trophies home.

I think it is not fare enough to give such a less amount to the world cup winners. I think sports( apart from cricket, tennis and football) should be given the same importance as that of studies. It is to my understanding that inorder to develop india more fastly than what it is rightnow is to change the political system, the youth has to be in politics to make the changes.
The effect of politics is in extremes on every field and hence it should be maintained properly.
Anyways Guys! You people have done a Great job! We all Indians are proud of you. You got the name and fame to India where others who are in fampus sports could not get that. WELL DONE!!! AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL TEAM MEMBERS IN KABADDI!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP IT UP!!

Congrats Every One.
I dont want to make any comment, because we are all doing wrong by ignoring other sports. Let me tell how many of you will watch kabbadi if Kabbadi and cricket are being telecasted at the same time?
Its easy to raise a finger on others. I dont like. What I say is we all have to be changed.
Anyways Congrats Every one on kabbadi team who made all indians pround.
