Prashant crowned the new Indian Idol
John Abraham declared that the darling of Darjeeling, Prashant Tamang, had won the battle. An ecstatic Prashant hugged his parents and thanked the Kolkata Police, judges and his fans as he accepted the prize–a one-crore music contract and a Maruti SX car. Amit, who lost the title, was also gifted a Maruti SX car. Congratulations to both heroes!

its true , really wrong idol. amit is really far far better than prashant.its really sad that people chosen the idol on the basis of region not quality of singer,
Really Zayed? I don’t think so. He’s as deserving as anyone in the contest. So now accept the truth with grace and stop whining.
I can’t believe Prashant has become an idol. Indians have totally chosen a wrong person.
I also agree that amit is far better than Prashant, regardless of his blunder in the final round. But, I could see how Prashant came back from behind, and got the title. Since, Amit was hot favorite to win the title, janta decided to give someone else a chance!

Amit was great and he deserves indian idol, its totally a wrong decision.
Janta gave its verdict now accept it. Prashant is as capable as Amit.Even though so much prejudiced behavior from the judges he kept on going and proved he’s a fighter and knows how to survive in the worst situation.Now he got wat he deserved. I am happy for him.
I too felt that Amit was the right Indian Idol.. but i guess it is all luck. Amit will surely get a good break in Bollywood. Prashant on the other hand is also a very sensitive person and has also worked hard to improve his singing. I do agree with what champ has said earlier… However All the Best to both of them and their wonderful friendship….
