“These Asian labourers wake before dawn in desert dormitories that pack a dozen men or more to a room. They pour concrete and tie steel rods in temperatures that top 110 degrees. They spend years away from families in India and Pakistan to earn about $1 an hour. They remain bonded to employers under terms that critics liken to indentured servitude.” –NYTimes

Thank you for the video. I’ve been waiting, someone would document the lives of people in middle east countries. As an Indian, I know the pain of my people, as my neighbor is in the middle east country. Sends letters to his family about the life there. living anywhere outside the home country is like hell. No matter its middle east or united states. The middle east countries are not responsible for this situation. Our government should put strict regulations so that the workers may not feel stressed and feel secured. Most of the people are illiterate, so they dont bother about the cost. All they want is to go and earn. This illiteracy is advantage for the agents to earn more money. The agents in India must be severely punished for any cheating. Leaving family members and home country may lead to depression.
I pray for all the people out there, live a secured and healthy life.
Extremely shocking and sad.Paisa ka maya hain.
I wish we’d create more awareness among people chasing oil money. Agents are evil everywhere;in India, US or Middle East. It’d be great to see them brought to book, including the so called ‘employers and consulting firm owners’ in the US.
Thanks for the reality video. The governments of India, Pakistan, bangladesh, etc. are responsible for their own people. And also it is responsibility of middle east countries as these people makes their life more luxurious. So our govt.s should put pressure on middle east countries to make our ppl’s life better there..
My blood boils and my heart bleeds after I seen the video. And I can only feel pity for them as I am not in a position to help them. First of all our governments are completely responsible for all this happenings. For your information my brothers maximum number of money remitted to india is not by the people who are doing it from US and other western countries, it is from the middle east. If you feel pround now that India is having so many dollars in their treasury it is the courtesy of these workers and to a small extent by people who are in US and other western countries. But still our government doesnt even have an iota of feeling for them. I am surprised whatever they do or might have done always falls short of the requirement. I always ask a question to myself are we not citizens of our country, are we not human beings. Is money in the banks is the only thing for those politicians. They are the servants of the people and it looks like the otherway round. See the left guys, they are always anti development, and anti to most of the things good for the people. And on top of that we have such a bad congress guys. This is the party which ruled for maximum number of years, and they are the guys who are responsible for our country’s backwardness. Most corrupted people on earth are from Congress Govt. BTW I dont like any other parties also. I wish we have some novel idea for governance. Something new out of the box idea. Also more number of local parties is not good and thats why we end up with coalition govts with the likes of mulayam,s, mayawati’s, rajasekhar reddy’s etc.
Its not GOD BLESS AMERICA, It should be GOD BLESS INDIA, PAKISTAN, BANGLADESH AND SRI LANKA. Infact GOD BLESS WEAK PEOPLE.
All the money earned by someone elses blood and sweat wont last forever. He who earns that way cannot digest it for sure.
HIDDEN BOUNDED LABOUR /HUMAN TRAFFICKING
This is what is now rampant in USA, EUROPE and in its worst form SAUDI & UAE.
We know how once the Britisher smuggled millions of Indians to far flung places like Mauritius, Fiji, west-Indies after they were unable to slave trade Africans to their colonies. The same nations now exploit humanity again.
Americans want cheap labor from Mexicans-but call them illegal immigrants, depict them as wrong as possible in media. while immigrant work hard to earn, most of the american’s are living on govt money and do same job for lots lots more doing less work.
UK has an open racist system.
Europe though has falling population and needs more people for work force- is only introducing strict laws making life difficult for hard working asians and africans. The wealth these countries are enjoying is mostly robbed from the colonies they ruled. these nations have used all our resources and still are depleting them.
Now coming to Saudi’s and Dubai they are worst people with foolish pride and they exploit use as if we were animals. The wages they pay are menial like their characters most of the time. And our own people who act as agents are like people who were involved in slave trade frauds, greedy selfish creatures
why india don’t have this sense to make india like the foreing countries. india can also make buildings and stores and hire the people per hour and provide same necessities to ibdian people. the labour wish to work in foreign countires and the same work they are shy to do in india. if india also provide per hour salary like foreigners do.how much can uae will give jobs to everyone and earnings. why don’t u show the documentary on london and america. america is having tax system whatever is bought u have to pay tax. but in middle eastern countries there is no tax system. if india keep the race, culture, caste difference india will never go forward as a developing country. the politics and relegions are making india worst. in america london and other froegn countires all the clotheings and food and other stuff moslty comes from india. so why don’t india make their own country like foreing countires. just filling their own pockets.
I don’t know why people are talking about USA and europe in this context. I have lived in the US for over 7 yrs and worked many kinds of jobs none were like the ones described in this video. I do understand the mid east most ppl who go to work there are illetrate but in the US I don’t see any asian ppl working in hard manual labor. In the US you chose what to do and what not to do.
Money makes ppl go round and round…. its a choice we have and sometimes desperation leads to take up jobs that we are not fit to do. Especially asian countries even men are not physically fit to do these kinds of jobs because we lack basic physical fitness training.
I do think the agents that recruit ppl without the right information should be prosecuted but for every 1 victim of these circumstances 100 more are willing to take that risk to get paid more than what they can earn in India or elsewhere.
