Urgh! Please let me get my frustrations out before I begin to discuss the deal. The reporter interviewing him is so FRICKING biased!!! He is convinced this deal is GREAT for India and does not want to hear otherwise. Moreover, he is supposed to be interviewing him NOT debating with him. He interrupts him numerous times, accuses him and takes the entire discussion off track to the credibility of some political party no body cares about. RIDICULOUS

Anywho… whoo… all thats out. On the deal itself, I really don’t think we should go through with it. The reporter asks Sinha if we should decline the deal at the sacrifice of the integrity of our nation and hampering future associations between India and America. First of all, a deal goes through if both nations are willing to take it. Right now, we aren’t and why should we be? The deal would not only mark our dependence on America, it would also mark our subservience. Yes, America is a great country and having positive relations with a great country would make us more noticed and possibly more valued globally but at what cost? Why don’t we make our own mark? Why should we depend on someone else? Additionally, believe it or not America is fighting a losing war for remaining the world power. It’s constant dependence on the Middle East for its energy and another dependence on Asians (Indians included) to make it technologically superior globally are its biggest down factors. Why should we join a country that’s losing anyway? Moreover, what if they drag us into all the ridiculous things they do like the “War on Terrorism”? Don’t we have enough domestic issues to deal with?

DONT THINK STUPIDLY ; DO U KNOW HOW MUCH ENERGY WE NEED TO SATISFY OUR FUTURE DEMAND.

JUST CHECK THE REALITY WHERE WE STAND IN THE WORLD MAP; WE DONT HAVE TECHNOLOGY TO DEVELOP OWN OUR OWN. WE STILL NEED TO DO ALOT. WHATS WRONG IN GOING WITH UNITED STATES OF AMERICA; IF WE CAN MAKE OUR FUTURE BETTER.

WE SHOULD GO WITH DEAL IF WE WANT TO DEVELOP AND SATISFY THE ENERGY NEED OTHERWISE LIVE IN DARK…TIME IS RUNNING OUT ; LOOK AT THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHINA; IF WE THINK STUPIDLY THEN WE WILL BE FAR BEHIND.THINK PRACTICALL NOT EMOTIONALLY …………..

  3. 3 Keerthi Nov 6th, 2007 at 8:23 am

Think stupidly? Stupidity would be accepting the deal! Do you have any idea how much this will cost us? And define thinking “emotionally”. I believe it you who are thinking emotionally. Ready to sell our nation for energy

Can anyone explain the deal briefly and precisely? What are the things holding us back to accept the deal and Y is usa keen to get us accepted?

keertiiiiiii, you must be living in some metropolitan city … You should look from a small town/ village perspective < ** Changed by Nighi Team **>
Because i live in solapur, which has popultion of 1 million. we face daily 5 hrs of loadshading. In nearby villages 12 hrs of loadshading in a day, farmers and middle class ppl face sever problems because electricity comes only at night.

last year only around 4500 farmers committed suicide in one region of maharashtra. what pride you are talking about….
i think ur pride is no electricity, people starving, rapes, dowries, criminal leaders, corruption, no infrastructure, no school, reservations everywhere, no security for woman, child labor, unemployment, no human rights…

is that enough or should i tell you some more….

so i would like to give a big slap on face of left party people and people who think that we are selling our nation. first tell me, what we are selling and where?

    dont be emotional fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To develope our country at staggering rates and to compete with china we need energy desperately. This deal is need and demand of this time. if we miss this opportunity then there will no pride to cheer about. and i simply dont understand why ppl are talking about pride of the country?

Sorry I hit submit before I was done.
Don’t get me wrong I want the BEST for our nation. Who wouldn’t? I just don’t think this deal is going to help us. Everyone is thinking naively. Come on, US is already dependent on the Middle East for its energy, where the heck are they going to find more energy to GIVE it to us?
Moreover, we have nothing against any other country in the world, other than maybe our poor relations with Pakistan. We have been respected for our neutrality. Right now, the US is a JOKED and MOCKED country. Don’t believe me? Read international news! Americans make fun of their own president and thats how respected he is and guess who’s proposing the deal? By accepting the deal who knows? it might only lead to a disaster.
The domestic issues that I had copy pasted above from someone’s comment are our business not somebody else’s. We made them, we fix them. Most of these issues aren’t even related to energy. They are more related to other issues such as our exponentially increasing population which leads to fewer resources for each individual (where our energy stems from anyway),illiteracy and the failure of political system. These are all things we need to fix before considering our status globally.
Somebody also pointed out that China is beating us in terms of global dominance and that we should catch up by taking this deal. Last time I checked they have NO RELATIONS with the US. They’re doing fine and they were at the same stage we are today and they’ve managed flourish on their own. Doesn’t that show we can too? Why can’t we have more faith in our country’s potential?
As a child, hopefully your parents told you not to depend on someone else because once you do you forget your own potential and become too preoccupied with other issues. The same applies here. We CANNOT depend on the US which is not a liable nation to depend on anyway. Please research US History and look at the evidence before you comment and lash out as to how I am an unpatriotic Indian dragging the nation down.
Also becoming a world power isn’t like winning a gold medal. It is NOT as easy as it sounds. It is a constant race and it is a HUGE responsibility. Right now, there is no possible way that we can handle such a responsibility. We need to fix our personal issues before we do something HUGE and global.
Moreover, correct me if Im wrong, but I have not heard a single word about compromise from the US. They have been pushing the deal and forcing it down our throats as it is and as it stands, which goes to show how much they care about our perspective and how much they respect our wishes.
Also I completely and wholeheartly agree with keerthi, the interviewer was completely BIASED and extremely RUDE. Clearly he has influenced nearly everyone on this blog which goes to show how unfair it actually is. His job involved presenting an objective view and information about the deal NOT his opinions. Also Sinha has MUCH more experience than the reporter who probably just researched 2 days before the interview. Moreover, Sinha has SEEN the deal, READ it and KNOWS why he opposes it although he was never given a chance to say what he wanted which is a shame because it was the purpose of the interview, atleast I hope so.
I wholeheartedly hope this deal never goes through unless it is altered it some way. As of right now, it is a recipe for disaster waiting to be cooked.

Please read the whole article posted by the Novell, it proves what I have been saying. This is a quote from the same article that was posted.

“The Bush Administration has concluded that an Indian shift toward nuclear energy is in the best interest for America to secure its energy needs of coal, crude oil, and natural gas.”

How exactly will this help India if the Americans want our energy resources?

  12. 12 Keerthi Nov 7th, 2007 at 8:48 pm

“no electricity, people starving, rapes, dowries, criminal leaders, corruption, no infrastructure, no school, reservations everywhere, no security for woman, child labor, unemployment, no human rights” I believe those fall under domestic issues, I mentioned in first post. Please read the whole thing.

    To Nighi Team,
I am NOT insulting this person I don’t know. Im only sharing my pt of view and trying to clarify misunderstanding not start some violent personal argument. Please for clarification do not edit this comment. Its not offensive neither is meant to be for gods sake! Thank you for allowing discussions. This is one reason I love desivideos

  13. 13 Naresh Nov 7th, 2007 at 11:41 pm

After reading from the wikipedia, wat i infer is:

USA wants energy(coal, crude oil,..) from INDIA.

INDIA wants technology do develop civil nuclear equipment(reactors) from USA for our electricity needs etc…(not for use in battlefield)

I WONT GO with the deal because of the following reasons:

    1) US nuclear vendors cant sell the reactors to India as is as they need many compensations (liability, credibility pool,…)

    2) The RDEA firm’s research analysis says that investing in India’s nuclear power development in the next 20 years is not fruitful, in the sense less valuable than a variety of other measures available to us already.

So, India need not hurry to go with the deal and we dont lose anything if we dont accept the deal atleast for the next 20 years.

And we shud also think abt the support of usa to india. We need usa for many things and we shud also keep in mind the consequences of not accepting the deal.

And the question is CAN WE DEVELOP THE TECHNOLOGY ON OUR OWN?——very very difficult.

  14. 14 a Nov 8th, 2007 at 2:42 pm

Some politician raised the point that we cant do nuclear test. i think if we dont do nuclear test its ok , because we have nuclear power and we dont need to test it every day in future …

Biggest fight is with the demand of energy and no body knows from where they are going to manage it. some years ago there was order from the high court about interlinking of river project. But no progress at all…. even they start working on it there are tons of issues (for example. environmental and many …) and i think it will take 10 year or may be 20 years.

    for neha and keerthi,

i agree that bush may be foolish but even in india tons of politician are fool and not just fool but more than fool… In US AND INDIA THE MAJOR POLICIES ARE MADE BY THE GOVERMENT OFFICIALS WHO ARE HIGHLY QUALIFIED.

Why we need US BECAUSE OF ITS POSITION IN WORLD POLITICS. even we develop the technology , we need supply of uranium from US,AUSTRILIA;SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, and if we dont have good realition with US HOW WE ARE GOING TO GET RAW MATERIAL AND FURTHER APPLICATIONS ……

One very big big question , just think how much indian goverment spend on devlopement of technology. and how many technology that india has developed in so many years to develop very fast.

i live in foreign country , after living here 3years i realised why peoply says that india is 20 years behind the europe or developed countries. some people think that india is developing but frankly i dont see any thing reaching to villages of india and poor people…India is not just mumbai and delhi becaues i think some people are very over confident about indias progress.

  15. 15 Naresh Nov 8th, 2007 at 9:05 pm

I agree with “a” but i think its better not to go with the deal.
