Nasreen had to move out of Kolkata after angry protests by some Muslim groups, demanding her ouster, rocked the city. (Wonder how many of those protesters read her books or novels)
Afraid of offending the protestors, the Centre was still resisting pressure to formally step in and address the controversial Bangladeshi author’s wish to return to her home in Kolkata.
To cash on this situation, our political parties are taking a stand. Lets see where they stand.
Communists: Welcomed her, but later did a U-turn and denied ever having taken a stand to welcome the Bangladeshi author back.
Congress: Defending its allies Communists and protecting their vote bank.
BJP: She should be given the status of a political refugee, just like Dalai Lama.
VHP: Taslima must be given protection. (Anyone guessed this? I did.)
National Conference: Taslima should apologize for “criticizing God” or else she will not have a “place to hide”. (Isn’t this a threat?)
So what do you guys think? Should she be sent back to Bangladesh to face imminent death or should be allowed to stay in India? What do you guys think about our political parties?

I think she did a good job by speaking out against violence to a minority. But she shouldn’t have commented about islam. I think she should apologize for that. But I don’t think taslima and MF Hussain can be compared.
I think taslima should be asked to apologize to the muslim community but shouldn’t be forced out of the country whatever people say.
well point is if she has come here to protest against Muslims more or for protection. If he came here to protest more about Muslims then she should be asked to leave. But if she wants some security then we can protect her irrespective of her past deeds. Her intention was more against domination on minority in Bangladesh rather than muslim religion itself. She can be given protection as benefit of doubt and with some warning to not go against on Islam any more in our country.

Who is she?
She was a physician in Bangladesh with interest in poetry too. No one in India or else where knew her before she came out with blasphemous work against islam.
She alleged islam being unjust and suppressing women in her works.
This was no way her personal experience- becoz her Muslim parents never restricted her.
In her student life she was a leader of groups too.
She was encouraged to became a doctor(physician) and was a working women in a muslim society.
Her poetry was published in newspapers. so she enjoyed freedom until(before) her blasphemous writing - which i think she only wrote to grab attention - becoz what she wrote was not constructive criticism.
West or the so-called secular world loves islam bashing ex-muslims. ex: rushdie, farsi………. whom they give bookers, pulitzer or some other award with good money and asylum or citizenship or even honors like “SIR”.
When Bjp was in power they invited Rushdie and taslima to india to honor them. Not bcoz they are popular here -but only to get SADISTIC PLEASURE by hurting muslim feeling.
Foolish Hindutva force are ignorant that in “Satanic
Verses”-Rushdie calls RAMA drunkard, SITA flighty, and mocks lord Ganesh. They are happy that he wrote against muslims.

I don’t care about whether she stays or goes but I was shocked by BJP response that a permanet visa should be granted to her. No wonder BJP can only play communal card and come to power.
Lets think about this. She exercised her free speech and there is nothing wrong in doing so. Her thinking, good or bad or neutral, hurt some people. Her home country is unable to protect her and she needs to be protected coz she is threatened punishment for doing something that her constitution guaranteed her. She is seeking asylum in a better educated society (India). Now it is left for us to decide if we would show our sophistication and protect her or give in to unruly mobs. If she was a bangladeshi criminal of law, I would not allow her into my country. Had writing against religious sentiments of masses against law in her home country, then I wudnt allow her into India.
Grow up people. Would you go hunting every person that would insult your religion ? Its not worth it. I would say the same thing even if she had hurt my religious sentiments. Protecting the needy is always humanitarian. Let the judicial system later decide if she is indeed guilty. We are obligated to hear her plea coz she knocked our door.
@mentor, you forgot to mention that Taslima was bringing to light the attrocities done on the Hindus in Bangladesh.
@soulja, were you not shocked to know that 4,00,000 Kashmirir Pundits were thrown out of Kashmir in a Brutal manner and are still languishing in refugee camps for the past 17 years.

@mentor, You know why this kinda bad reputation? It is not questioning/speculating Muslim’s loyality and unity towards a secular India but, it is about provoking violence in a way they claim it is according to muslim. Heard of recent bomb blasts in Hyderabad’s and Rajasthan’s mosques? Muslims kill muslims in a sacred places? Explode bombs in temples and public recreative places and kill hundreds of people?
Any answers to some of my questions?
— I heard there are lot of disputes among different sects of muslims in Pakistan. If that is the case, the organization which is suspected or has announced to be responsible of Hyd’s mosque bomb blasts claimed that they are going to establish Muslim all over India starting their activities from Hyderabad. How does this sound fair so far?
— Upon sayings of Muslim heads (in whatever the country) they kill muslims in India, that too muslims!?
— Claiming to be discriminated in India for decades together since the time of independence. Let’s not forget that we fought British TOGETHER to free ourselves.
Let me show you an example. I saw guys publicly supporting Pakistan’s cricket team when it was playing against India in late 90s. Publicly means literally when few 10s of guys were watching match standing in front of an electronic show room on a main road. Here, I hope, I have not to mention which religion they belong to. When it is at nations level (match against Ind vs Pak) they could not respect and stand by India. In this kind of situation how would you expect us to be unite in normal lives? Those guys were not educated and all are below 25s. Is it an implicit indication that they are taught something against India and “Hindutva” starting right from their childhood? I am not against muslim or Pakistan. I have so many muslim friends back in India and here I have some Pakistan friends too. It is about respecting each other. More over respecting each others’ believes.
Coming to MF Hussain’s case, why did muslim people take out so many protests when some Danish cartoonist drew something offensive about muslim prophet? If you have seen Hussain’s pictures, common sense speaks. Art has no boundaries but when it comes religious matters, you should be aware of your society and environment though Indian constitution by virtue gives personal freedom in all the forms. Living in India along with 80% of Hindu inhabitants and believers of sacred scripts and epics how dare he could continue portraying in such a way? If something has given name and fame to him in India and internationally, it’s its PEOPLE. Doesn’t matter whoever it is, if it goes against their believes it would be the same PEOPLE again who would bring you back on to ground.

Whether Hindu or Muslim if he is Indian he shud support India. A he owes a lot to the nation where he was born, grew, eat, -food & even the air he breathes is indian.
Its wrong if he support pakistan/any other nation for that matter. Though he can like a sportman-for his skills and ablity but as a team he shud only back india. And who so doesnt do so is wrong& stupid bcoz no one in pakistan would like him -as he is an indian. Though some foolish muslims(loosers) may have done this .not bcoz they like pakistan but only bcoz they derive sadistic pleasure by hurting people whom they think as oppressors/opposer.
But one question i am going to answer now has been raised out on context. And this shows how little you know of people and differences in cultures. MF Hussain had drawn pictures of goddesses which hindus have been drawing and carving out of stones since 100’s of years. And all big old temple have this type of art work where women are scantily dressed- sometimes they are even depicted in sexual postures too.
Muslim too condemn MF hussian bcoz what is the need for him to draw any scantily dressed women and specially hindu goddesses.
And muslims unlike hindus are against idol whorship and have never drawn images of mohammad(pbuh) in past. Now in Danish episode .fisrtly they drew muhammad(pbuh) and that too in an offensive way. So muslim had protested.

Well, I admit I know little but, not as much as you pointed out saying that sculptures and scripts carved on Khajuraho temples belong to goddesses and gods. I pity your ignorance but fact is that it is meant for sacred reasons of increasing sexual desires in inhabitants of small kingdoms to populate the individual kingdoms more when population rate was dropping considerably and to keep up with that situation “surroundings of temple” were crafted with sexual literature and education but not the “temples” themselves. It could be one interpretation among people but never those pictures had been of any gods or goddesses. You better keep that in mind. I recommend try going through some basic idea of Khajuraho temples. A challenge to you: Any where in this world refer one such temple or place that has carvings/paintings of gods/goddesses covered scantily except MF Hussain’s.
If I say something about incidents in Hyderabad it would be lot embarrassing to all Indians. They distribute sweets and play fire works in some of the areas in Hyd when India loses match against Pakistan. I have no comments here again if you say that it’s sporting spirit or individual skills they are celebrating.
And to go through your previous posts and issues - not my business and neither yours answering my questions. This is not an issue here to embarrass somebody but, to make people aware and think about it. As long as we respect each other, no issues. And how far it is in one individual let us leave it up to one’s conscience and soul.
Coming to Taslima Nasrin, the main topic in here, I do not know her until I read news about an attack on her in a press conf at hyd. If she intentionally offended someone’s feelings she needs to be sorry and guilty. Coming to protection, Parliament is valued as supreme and law maker of secular India, as much as individual religions value their holy scripts. India is a country where it was considering to compromise death punishment of parliament attacker with a mercy petition.
I would say don’t give her any status in India.We have lots of other issues and we don’t want to welcome more rivalries by giving her refugee status. If she wants to go back to Bangladesh let her apologies to the muslim community.If not let her go to countries like US/UK.

Well to me, she can be given permanent assylum in India.
Remember she is kicked out of her country for writing what she thinks is real. It’s no wonder she was treated that way in Bangladesh. Because there is no scope for discussion and arguments. Every body should understand that a single woman can be beaten to death by force. I’m for sure those who want to commit this are losersas they can’t face the discussion about the differences. They know that they will lose.
You all know what happened to her in her recent visit to Hyderabad. It really is a shame (to me, as I belon to Hyderabad), when some politicians attack her that way, the people who were sworn to protect the law and the constitution.

Now i am sure you know little abt hinduism & mythology associated with it. what all temple art depicts is stories from like. i would qoute you a few here.
parvathi tapasya- this is on of the most sexual/romantic litrary works i have ever read. it give a complete description hwo after Sati’s death- after her rebirth as parvathi she tries to attract Shiva and arose passions in him with her beauty and actions. she even takes help of God-manmadha for it. Finally she able to make her way into his heart.
Krishna lilas like seeing -virgins bathing and even stealing cloths.
And Vishnu-Sahabari affair while her husband is doing tapasya. and many muni/rushi-apsara type epics
So as for i know temple art was one of the medium used to tell all these tales - and all temple of ancient had them.
And as far i know hindu gods wore no top(shirts) until saibaba- a muslim born hindu god-may be they rarely wore armours in battles-.
and goddess too did not wear a complete saree in any old
temple idols.
And i condemn all fools/stupids how distribute sweet and fire cracker on when india looses. Bcoz they too are loosing too as indians and by wasting hard earned many on sadistic pleasures

u have expressed different views about hinduism ,the nude statues of gods/godesses in temples, the krishna lilaas and parvathi attracting shiva.
i want to make it clear that hinduism is not against sex. actually ,it is one of the dharma that a gruhastu(a family man) should take care. so nude statues in the temples i think is not an issue for mentor or sudheer.
we need to understand the nude statues as a teaching media of sex which brought us into existence.
And now comming to the point of hindus do idol worship
i tell you if you have any minute knowledge of vedanta or bhagavat gita it doesnt preach against any religion. instead it tells the people atlast have to do their practice by worshipping god to be form less. just for some initial concentration purpose gita preaches to have idol worship. if u have a good knowledge of gita it doesnt even quote krishna as an idol or god. They are the people who have realized and given us wounderful books like bhagavat gita or khuran. a responsible person who read bhagavat gita or khuran doesnt write these sort of messages slandering each other religions about which you dont have any idea.
i tell you mohammad is not different from krishna. in indian history the ideal people became gods and dieties. And people started worshipping the idols. In core hinduism there is a criticism for idol worship.
we hindus and muslims in india we are blessed with two wounderful religions. we can work together so that we can get some good practical points in each other religions to become a better human beings.

gita preaches that disturbing or hurting a person mentally is a sin. it also says that if u know that a person gets disturbed by your comments (though your comments are right) then it instructs you to keep quite than expressing your views which are going to hurt the other person.
