Kidney Racket Scandal Shocks Country (Discussions)

image image

The uncovering of an illegal kidney transplant racket in a booming IT city has gripped India, with reports hundreds of poor laborers may have been duped or forced into donating organs to wealthy clients, including foreigners.

Unsuspecting victims of the scam said they were promised a job, then taken to a private house and forced at gunpoint to sell a kidney. The transplants occurred inside the house, which was equipped with a hidden state-of-the-art operating room. Those who sold their kidneys received about 50,000 rupees, or $1,300 — although wealthy clients were said to have paid 10 times that amount.

Many victims were told that they needed to undergo a blood test screening for a potential job, only to wake up to find they had undergone surgery and had a kidney extracted.

“We suspect around 400 or 500 kidney transplants were done by these doctors over the last nine years,” Mohinder Lal, Gurgaon’s police chief, told the Hindustan Times.

The mastermind behind the scam is believed to be Dr. Amit Kumar (also known as Dr. Santosh Raut), whom Mumbai police have been pursuing since 1993. The doctor had previously been arrested in Delhi in 2000 for involvement in the illegal trade of organs.

Commercialization and Privatization of everything is dangerous.

India and Indians over past two/three decades have been advocating Commercialization and Privatization in every area. But things like Education, Medicine, Defense and some other fields shud never be in private(selfish) hands. These things are vital to any nation.

” Earning lots of money = Success”

    ” Salary= basic pay(low) bribes(high) ”

“Big Money => All means Justified ”

Unfortunately this is type of formulas are being adopted by Indians individuals/institutions in every aspect of life. Everyone starts thinking Over Selfishly and this is surely leading to conflict and havoc. As “Game theory” is not applicable in human scenario and shud not be tried becoz it only leads to social breakdown.

Medicine like education has been made into Big business.
Medical colleges have become markets of MBBS diplomas. Infact one of the catogary of admission seat now in these college in “Auction seat” and the seat is auctioned for more than 35 lakhs each. Authority over seeing these college is one of the most corrupt. They sanction college to any one offering good bribes- political gondas , Tycoon ….

So the doctor graduating from these Business(medical) schools are good brokers. All govt doctors have private practices too where they do the real job.

    “Appolo= Appuloo”

    “Care = Beware”

    “Yashoda shud be actually Kans”

“Govt hospital- place were one can get sick”

All Corporate hospital are Traps(money and death traps).
There is a nexus between lab testiing, doctors, blood and organ banks, police, politician- is this a health system or “MAFIA”

Philanthropy-is the answer there shud be some institution which have goals higher than earning money- serving those who need help and care. for this to happen some haves(rich) shud act generously. Attitude change in society is much needed.

This is not something new for doctors. Doctors in India are treated as Gods and in return they play with our lives. I think Medical Schools should teach their students how to behave in society when they take up the profession. Its so disturbing to see how people are cheating in the name of employment. There is no guarantee for a person leaving house for him to return safe.
This racket is operating from 9 years and police are looking for the doctor for nearly 15 years. Isnt that weired. Is it as difficult as Bin Laden to trace that doctor?
Also these other doctors are no less, they kill people in the name of strikes. Every one have some problem or the other in their profession but these doctors go beyond taking people’s life to get their demands fulfilled.
They know how to get their demands get fulfilled by government but they dont know how to control such incidents from their fellow professionals.

It always a cycle, it all ends up at the people again. we are to blame at the same time that doctor has to bring to justice. And the strike of jr doctors resulting in death of some people is also hard to digest.

People should start looking at the Causes instead of just condemning such insidents.
Govt. needs to improve its internal intelligence departments and dedicate some of them for financial, medical, sexual crimes..etc..
Just setting up different departments will not get work done. People working in these dept’s..should work with dedication and i cant imagine how one can make sure this happens..
also govt should make sure to improve the finacial conditions of the poor in the country.

I appriciate the Doc’s wife who disowed him when it came to her notice that he was involved in this henious crime.

if we have to blame someone, then blame the greedy govt policies and ourselves.. where these days the value of education & standards in India are bought with huge donations..how can anyone justify a medical seat for 50 lkhs? Well..the only way is to get 10 times of every penny you invested..for those people it’s like an investment for their future..put 50lkhs and make 50 crores..at the cost of people’s lives…what people are not realizing is, they are playing with the lives of innocent people..I keep posting my comments..but wats the use? Unless the govt takes a very very serious action, nobody changes. We pay bribes and everything is forgotten….

In reply to Singh’s comment..why do you want to remove kidneys of his wife & children..they are not to blame..these kind of people should be punished with such a severity, others shd really be afraid even to think about doing such things..Human rights should ignore protesting against punishing such people….

If you are spiritual, then think for one second..how our lives have changed due to some greedy people, making others struggle to meet their ends..

May be someone shd implement the punishments described in Garuda Puranam where they shd be given the taste of those when they are alive.

    May God Bless India!

Come on yaar, this doctor has done for his life.
For his benefit he has just taken kidneys only.
For example, take one of the worst topic like
Telangana issue. One side pakistan/Islamic fools
are trying to vanish us, at the other side our people
wants their own independence. Our politicians are going to kill us earlier than islamics. Taking kidney is very silly story when compare with this issues.

I wish this doctor would have taken kidneys from this
    politicians. Idiots.

Before blamin on small issues, blame on big.
