It’s not a common hit-and-run on the roads. Instead it’s a planned attempt to murder captured on tape. Two engineers from the Highway Department and a policeman were deliberately mowed down by a car as they were going about their job, supervising demolition of an unauthorized temple in Kanyakumari district. The victims were enforcing a court order to remove a part of a temple which is an encroachment on a highway in Kanyakumari district.

This is obviously a horrible incident though not an isolated one.
This is a astounding thing all over India. Initially they start worshiping a small ‘idol’ or a ‘rock’ and then they slowly start building a compound around it. After that a huge building is constructed illegally. Encroachment of temples over the public land is the most common seen and ignored by most of the officials. Lands are expensive so the cheap and dirty way is occupy.
Not only that, they start playing huge volume devotional songs 24X7 killing serenity and peace for the residents around the temple.

Ok, before you start venting, just think, pretty much each and every govt official is a crook and they are corrupt to the core.
The temple seems to be a source of lively hood for the priest family, have been compensated for the their loss of income ?, how are they gonna survive if they are ousted from their only livelyhood ?
In no way i am saying the attempt is justified, all i am saying is , donot have pity on the govt officials, they probably wanted a lumpsum of money not to demolish the temple.
