The Congress government in Andhra Pradesh has decided to dole out sops to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, announcing Rs 1,690-crore waiver for loans taken by 45 lakh people. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy says ..
We will waive loans taken up to Rs. One Lakh by SCs, STs, BCs, women and the handicapped from the respective state corporations
The move comes barely a year before the state Assembly elections. But as to how he would fund the waivers, the Chief Minister says he has divine help. “Well, God almighty will help the government. The economy is buoyant. Whatever we get, we want to pass it on to the weaker sections of the society,†he says.
The Chief Minister has already subsidised pulses at Rs 35 a kilo and edible oil at Rs 60 a kilo for farmers who have repaid their loans. Sources within the government say that loan repayments for the Indiramma Housing Scheme too - a housing scheme for the poor - will be waived. If this happens, it will cost the state exchequer an additional Rs 3,000 crore.

People !!! So YSR wants to waive Rs. 1960 Crores loans. Do you really think its possible? Who will take this burden? How justifiable is he to the people of Andhra Pradesh by waiving the loans for specific section of people? Do you think the mere reason behind this move is to appease the voters?

I believe its doable. The IT department alone can bring in the required funds. Looking at wats happening in the state its a good thing that cong. has come up with such a strategy. This is defnetly going to mean strict IT imposement on the rich. Hail YSR atleast for this..
I have no problems if someone wants to help the poor. Politicians shd try to understand that weaker sections != poor. Helping only some sections of the society is not justifiable.
fuck this,, the money never goes to the poor, he is an asshole.. what a fucker..would talk about divine help..god gonna rain money on him…moron..
i am gonna show this to my friend, dude
Mr.AP-360, how can you justify this action. How can you hail YSR for this action. Loan waiver for SC,ST and BC candidates, wow, so YSR thinks only those sections have poor people. What about poor people in upper class societies like Brahmin, Reddy and Chowdary. How can this biased decision be ever justifiable.
And do you think waiving off loans 1 year will solve any problem but winning votes for elections. Instead this money can be put to long term good use like Developing good schools, Implementing schemes to achieve 100 % literacy, Improving medical facilities at Govt hospitals, Funding research on better and fool proof irrigation techniques for the farmers etc.
How many years will we go on waiving off farm loans, SC,ST ,BC loans etc, how many years. Hard working young people and industrialists earn money, pay taxes and this is how the govt puts use for the money. I am not against helping poor ok, but is this really helping the poor, is it. Temporarily yes, but what about long term goals.
People, start thinking out of your caste bracket, please. Even if you are Reddy,Chowdary, SC,ST, BC please think outside the bracket, think about the betterment of our country.
Andhra CM????????????????????????????
Yup….and so we need a Telangana CM too…and maybe even a Rayalseema CM.
Hi vballu,
I like the idea of YSR, this is how it should be…If there is an IT raid on a politician we Indians (especially andhrites) we dont care, but when it happens to be a raid on a celebrity/ or news related to a celebrity…..Guess wat…it spreads faster than a wild fire…(This is how people take in, the news, these people are not about u n me - who are well bred and brought up, but these people are the lower middle class n the poor, who are the major part of this country/state).
About the gud schools….where are u buddy this is India..NO place for gud deeds…only there is place for politics. Our contry server v good for the interns with Political Administration as their Major…
FYI..I am not against India, I love it more than u do.
cheers
Mr.OneDayCM, you dont even know me. How can you say that you love the country more than me? Well, lets put it aside. I know how things work out in india. But we are youngsters right, we can hope and work to change india, its the old peoples job to take things as granted. Good govt Schools, Hospitals etc, we can work towards all of this, dont you think so. I am not against giving this money away to SC/ST/BC, I am just saying is that all the poor. And if they really are all the poor will it serve the purpose to waive off loan. I know I know right now, during this period of time its not possible, nor can we help in any way to change the course of action. I just want to express my opinion to the educated netizens that are visiting this form how wrong this is and what could instead have been done. My hope is that if they are exercising their right to vote in next assembly elections they would try to choose a more worthy guy.
Dear vballu,
Intresting comments, but most of the things which i thought of saying have been said by the OneDayCM. I can understand ur feelings (from the repetetions of words itself) but Dude when you are in a democracy like in India there’s not much one can do about politics.
All the political parties are the Same be it be TDP or cong or BJP or what ever.. They are all in politics for their personal gains and not atleast one of those is there to serve the people not atleast CBN as u might think reading some popular telugu news papers, this is true and we need to understand this.
I am happy that atleast some sections are getting benifitted by schemes like these…
The other argument is, in the 9 years term of CBN he has done very less or may be nothing for the farmers and that too when there was draught in the state with very less or no rains in those 9 years, may farmers had to resort to suicides coz of not being able to pay their bills and loan payments. At that time we did not even think that this would be possible to waive the loans to the farmers and now if some one is doing it i dnt think we have the right to oppose.
Well said Ap-360. And to vballu, whatever you said makes sense but that won’t happen cos if the poiliticans had so much sense, then India wouldn’t have been in this state. Its clear step taken to win votes and nothing else but by this if the poor mass are being benefitted so be it cos something is better than nothing. Cos you never know once the elections are done the CM might change this plan too.
AP-360, yes all the political parties are the same. Lets really put our egos aside for a moment. What is worrying me most is not the loan waiver but educated people Hailing YSR and Saying what he has done “is the right thing to do”. If you say “something is better than nothing”, I agree with you, it sure is. But this is not the right thing right, we shouldn’t hail him for this right?
this Mf***ker use taxpayers money for political intrest instead of developing infrasturcture which helps poor people.
Once again a great bait by YSR.
I appreciate his sincerety towards helping poor people. But why dont he extend his helping hand to other poor communities like Brahmins, Reddy’s, and Chowdary’s. There are lot of OC’s who took loans from corporations and state run banks. The reason is simple, they dont form a big vote bank.
Anyhow atleast some sections of the people are getting some temporary relief. If he gonna help other poor sections, then I can really say that YS is a good samaritan.
Finally, this burden will ultimately be on the common people. He’s going to setup some new targets for Excise to sell more liqour, new targets for Commercial taxes, and RTC has already increased their ticket prices by 30 -50 % during peak rush (not only during festivals).
Dear vballu,
There is no question of ego here, i suppose. From your words, If you really assume that all politicians are the same then you would hail anyone who does some good it does not matter if its YSR/CBN/KCR. Think of it.
AP-360, sorry for not being clear, By Ego I dont mean ego of caste etc, by ego I mean ego that makes us say are right, personel ego.
I would rather invest and distribute shares with this 1960 crores in a portfolio rather than clear farmer loans. The loans are about 2-10% interest and I am sure companies are performing better than that.
My thinking is whats the point in creating a country of beggars, rather create a country of spenders. And they have the confidence to be backed asset in huge corporations. Agin I would say it should be a portfolio, educate them to make money in new ways.
Somepeople just criticise Naidu for doing nothing, without understanding the basic fact that “we are overdependent on agriculture”. Our economy cannot support 70% farmers. Just giving some freebies would never resolve the issue, if everythings so good, why did 5000 farmers commit suicide?
Secondly why are we criticizing politicians so much, cbn or ysr are the best in country and served people the best they can and much better than all of us here, we have no idea there are how many people who need real help….coming from a rural background, lived in cities, been a communist and capitalist, there are a ocean of people who need help and they cannot be resolved ina day. The fact is they are as good as we are,
Hi vballu,
Its gud that we all are part of a gud discussion out of which someone learns something. Everyone is plain n no one is being egoistic.
Pls Dont be paranoid about things that are not directed towards u….I gave FYI for a reader who reads the post and who thinks that I am against India..not for u brother.
Thank for being a part of gud discussion
Guys,
Almost all your opinions are perfectly right…
Can anyone answer or understand what I say..What can be done to change this? My father is a politician, who worked hard and made our colony..best among the area by getting roads, water, street lights and lot of other works by requests, fighting and influencing through his political power. He never expects to earn money through politics, if he would have thought he would have earned lot of money and surely good position in politics..But as he is honest and doesn’t spend money or use other ways to influence his party leaders he didn’t significantly grow.Even the small leaders and youth in our colony support other parties for money backstabbing the person who worked hard and even spent money for the colony works. He is a dynamic person, who can speak well, make things happen..a person present society needs.. he is now frustated with this filthy politics has almost quit the politics and even doesn’t like to think about this..
If a person wants to be in politics with honesty this is the result. What can we do? Who just think and express our opinions among ourselves..I am not talking about social service but about the political service…
So he waives the loans based on caste and not on poverty status? This guy is a sick bastard. Someone has to pay the price, now or in future, for his stupid acts. Even in 2008, people fall for these old tricks
He is selling AP for his own benefit. How ridiculous can people be, by supporting such an a**hole.
AP chief minister is a moron, he needs to be kicked out form this position.
Dear Reddy,
I appreciate your fathers service to your community and to India. India needs people like him at the highest positions.
Comming to wat can be done.. from my view, in todays world, a world of materialism where there is no place for morals or ethics, we are left with two solutions.
1) To learn the trick of the trade with out being lost into it or losing the balance, i know its little confusing and tricky but what i mean to say is to ” Do good unto all Men, Including You”.
or
2) To choose a social activist path and do good without asking back and set some examples. Like what Vinoba Bhave or Baba Amte did…
or
It can be a mix of both, may be.. who knows..
This is not his money. In the name of people, he is distributing people’s money amongst his pets ans family.
Hello everybody, my name is Damion, and I’m glad to join your conmunity,
and wish to assit as far as possible.
OK, Now that Congress govt. is into its final year before elections to the state assembly, it’s no wonder they dole out every thing they can just speak of. Well any way they don’t give from their pockets. It’s going to be from the funds they receive from the people.
The govt. has given this Rs. 1600 crores sop, only to gain (from people) may be Rs. 16,000 crores once they win the election. I wish people realise this.
Give the people nets to catch the fish, not the fish itself.
Started with free power to farmers - He didn’t say if it was available. Then came the Jalayagnam, the cost of which is half of the kickbacks they receive from the contractors.Who can deny this. Now the Rs. 2.00 / kilo rice. What about the other prices of commodities. Who cares to think in an integrated way to better a poor mans life.
I feel the congress has out lived its purpose in India. Having said this, yes the other parties aren’t good enough though. The other parties need only a chance to send the country to dogs. It’s the lack of people participation, especially the younger generation in the political process, that encourages the lunatics to excel in the political arena.
Hey how about allowing only degree holders to contest in elections. May be India would be without any politicians. What do you think.
Raj.
The political system in India is not treansperent. No body knows what goes behind. Uneducated people fall for this kind of bait and educated dont even bother. Out of 1690 creores allotted, 90 crores goes to real poor(hopefully), 600 crores goes to his close followers who may be SCs,STs and 1000 crores goes in to his own pocket. The poor who really got the money hails him.
Any person can become rich if he licks the ass of other politicians and hails him. Thereby, borns another politician deticated to dirty politics. His motive would be to consume as much money as he can. Money brings power and does miracles. Law, justice, police, etc everything acts according to him.
There wont be any end to it.
The best idea would be to give our country to the hands of other developed nations like UK or Aus or even Japan on a contract basis. During the contract period (5 or 10 years), the foreign nation should be able to do what evet they want to improve security, stability, tourism and infrastructure development, gross national income, etc. But before they implement any project the final decision to proceed should come from people of India unanimously. But they cannot implement or suggest changes in millatary of Inida; either army, navy or airforce and also millitary research projects. They will be given some remuneration in the form of money or trade in or in any other form for their effort.
The whole thing means nothing but “Outsourcing” our country.
