This is my way of standing by the people of Tibet and their struggle: Bhutia
Sorry Tibet, but I will carry Olympic torch: Aamir
India’s football captain Baichung Bhutia has refused to carry the Olympic torch during its journey through the Indian capital Delhi later this month. He told the authorities he is “solidarity with Tibetan friends” and the move was in protest against China’s crackdown on Tibetan demonstrators, officials said.
On the other hand, Bollywood star Aamir Khan on Tuesday agreed to run with the Olympic torch here though he empathises with the Tibetan people and feels the games “do not belong to China”.
Declining requests not to take part in the relay, he asked them “to understand that when I do run with the torch on April 17, it is not in support of China. In fact, it will be with a prayer in my heart for the people of Tibet”.
Other celebrities including Kiran Bedi, Leander Paes and P K Banerjee decided to participate.
So guys, do you think Bhutia has done a right thing boycotting Olympic torch?

I think Bhutia personally made a good choice…. but as captain of football team… u need to bury your emotions and go with the spirit of the game.
games might not belong to China but the revenue thats goin to be generated thru thousands of tourists and sports is definitely goin to give boost to the chinese economy which they dont really deserve…. lemme put it this way… Americans have boycotted olympics in soviet years back for their own reasons.. now India cud do the same after all its our problem too….
Good call..
hi,
We in a domocratic country have liberty to decide for our feelings, even if u r representing country u have right to express ur feelings, and i think Bhutia have done the same, and even i protest The ****er Chinas, if some one in the world who can give a tuff competition in all sences like business, tech, and Military, etc for Chna, then it is INDIA…but i really feel ashamed for the Present Congress government for its act towards TIBET(please read the article of Fernadas).
See !!!!! that is where the diffference lies…. when its inconvience to America(The super power), its given as problem all over the world…. when its incovinience (infact a big problem ) to the third world , its nobody’s problem haha this is what we are livin in………. i wud call The Land of hypocracy…
ya bhutia is rite in his capacity and knowledge and amir in his.they both did the right thing respectively
thanks bhutia
hopefully, everyone sees this disaster happening in Tibet as the way of our (all tibetans and tibetans supporters including bhutia) eyes
I feel Both have reacted in their own way from the bottom of their hearts, Unlike Saif alikhan or SRK who were looking to gain some more publicity or media limelight. There is nothing wrong in either of their openions, i ask Amir to wear atleast an inner T-shirt which has written Tebiten cause on it, in a way to show that his inner feelings were with the Tibetiens.
On the other hand, i feel that some of the developed nations for different reasons want to see India and China as rivals. They simply cannot see the World where India and China are United coz if that happens they would no more be called super powers. China should put aside its high handedness in dealing with India and both need to understand the mutual benefit in being united. and India needs to prove upto Chinas Potential to be a partner with them in the Global Affairs.
I appreciate the Stance of Bhutia and Aamir have shown.
Hope the hypocrits at the centre( UPA govt and CPI CPM parties ) dont show the heat of the diplomacy and communism .
lets wish them good luck.
Whatever is happening, has been happening in India too for long. Will India give away Kashmir to Pakistan? Its an Internal Issue of China, why no one has raised questions for 4 decades, other than Dalai Lama? Was the whole world sleeping? Why now? When USA flexed its muscular force to attack Iraq, where more than million Iraqis were killed were were the human rights? Why does the world not Boycott USA for the atrocities it committed in Iraq? Atleast that was not internal issue nor were there any WMD?
The Olympic games does not belong to one nation, the spirit of the games should prevail rather than politics.China is a developing nation just like India and for all developing nations there are hurdles. It would be more sensible if two developing economies of the world stand together than withdraw support.
Movie actors are always heros/ustad in big screen. they are Thurum ustad in real life. Bhutia has guts, he is a sports man, who may play Olympics and Amir dont have guts he wants crazy and popularity. which film industry is for.
