At least 80 people have been killed and over 100 injured in a major stampede at the Chamunda Devi Temple in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where devotees had gathered in large numbers to mark the occasion of start of Navaratri. According to eyewitnesses, a rumor of a bomb being planted in the temple led to the stampede. This is the second big stampede in a temple this year. In August, a stampede outside the Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh left 145 pilgrims dead.
